Dear Kyrie Blikas

At the request of Kenneth Hillier of Ashby de la Zouch Museum I am
responding to your e-mail regarding Frank Abney Hastings. There are a
number of portraits of Captain Frank, probably the best known is the print
by Kreutzinger. This can be seen on the website www.captainfrank.co.uk and
there is an example in the British School at Athens as well as the British
Library in London. The most accurate oil painting is the one in the
National Historical Museum in Athens, but bewarethe one in the Museum at
Missalonghi is I suspect not of him at all but rather his enemy Lord
Cochrane! There is a bust of him at the residence of the British Ambassador
in Athens, but I think the best sculpture is that in the Heroes Garden in
Missalonghi.

I would be very grateful if you could e-mail me a photograph of the statue
in Etoliko as, although I knew about this I have never seen it or had the
opportunity to visit your town.

I do hope this is of assistance, but please feel free to contact me at any
time, and I do hope perhaps to be able to visit on some occasion.

With my very best wishes to you all in Etoliko.

Kind regards

Maurice Abney-Hastings
